Activities

The scientific activities are divided into three Issue Areas (IA) and four Working Groups (WG). The IAs analyze problems of identity, representation and scope of governance at the four WG levels of analysis: elites, experts, mass media and citizens.

• Training activities are conducted at different stages to train young scholars and graduate students in the areas of the research project and to immediately utilize some of the results and experiences stemming off from the research for a training of politicians and experts.

• Dissemination activities develop around a collection and analysis of four types of data:
1. Attitudinal and behavioural data at the individual level: – Elites: Two waves of elite surveys in the European countries. – Citizens: Two waves of mass surveys in the same countries covered by the Elites survey. – Experts: Semi-Structured Interviews with Members of Epistemic Communities in the EU.
2. Documentary data: – Collection of official party documents and government Records – Collection of Primary Documentation in Selected Policy Areas
3. Collection and coding data of television and newspaper media in the period of mass and elite surveys.
4. Citizens’ juries and Deliberative polling: To integrate basic and policy-research in experiments of deliberative democracy
